扇ヶ浜ビーチ清掃
合言葉は「きれいな街をわたしの小さな手で」。
熊野古道詣での「潮垢離（しおごり）」の精神を現代に受け継ぎ、地域のシンボルである扇ヶ浜（おうぎがはま）を舞台に開催されるビーチクリーン活動です。
かつて旅人たちが身を清めたこの浜で、私たちは海水を浴びる代わりに、海辺の”けがれ”（ゴミ）を拾い、心身を清めます。
地域内外の多様な人々が集い、交流しながら、みんなのビーチを自分たちの手で美しくする一体感と達成感を味わえます。
清掃活動を通して、環境美化への意識を高め、新しいチャレンジや繋がりが生まれる場所を目指しています。

熊野古道看板補修
シオゴリヒロメ
ヒロメは、春先に旬を迎える褐藻類（かっそうるい）の一種です。その名前の通り、ワカメよりも幅広く、肉厚な葉を持つのが特徴です。
扇ヶ浜から手の届く場所で養殖される『シオゴリヒロメ』がつくる藻場はブルーカーボンとして地球温暖化だけでなく、沿岸部の水質浄化や魚たちの産卵場所、稚魚（幼魚）の育成場所として周辺の漁業資源を増やし、豊かな生態系を育みます。
ぜひ地元ならではの希少な「ヒロメ」を味わい、食を通して地域の環境保全活動を応援してみてください。
美味しい体験が、未来の海を守る第一歩につながります。

KUMANO KODO HIKERS CLUB
安心・安全な熊野古道歩きのためのアウトドアショップ。地元の山を知りつくしたスタッフが常駐し、熊野古道歩きのサポートを行います。
ショップでは熊野古道歩きに必要なギアやウェアを取り扱います。
2026年3月オープン予定
An outdoor shop for safe and secure walking on the Kumano Kodo (pilgrimage route). Staff members who know the local mountains inside and out are always available to support your Kumano Kodo journey.
The shop carries the gear and apparel necessary for walking the Kumano Kodo.
Scheduled to open in March 2026.

Hirome is a type of brown algae (Phaeophyceae) that is in season in early spring. As its name suggests (“Hiro” meaning wide), it is characterized by leaves that are wider and thicker than those of wakame seaweed.
The seaweed beds created by ‘Shiogori Hirome,’ which is farmed within reach of Ogigahama Beach, contribute to “Blue Carbon,” benefiting not only global warming but also local coastal water quality. Furthermore, these beds increase surrounding fishery resources by serving as spawning grounds and nurturing areas for young fish (fry and juveniles), thus fostering a rich ecosystem.
We encourage you to try this rare, local ‘Hirome’ and support regional environmental conservation efforts through your dining experience.

世界遺産・熊野古道の門前町である田辺は、海沿いの道（紀伊路）が、いよいよ険しい山岳路（中辺路）へと分け入る「熊野の玄関口」。
古来、旅人たちはここから山に入る前に、海水で身を清める儀式「潮垢離（しおごり）」を厳かに行い、熊野三山を目指す心構えを整えました。

Kumano Kodo: Starting with the Shiogori Purification Ritual
The very last place where pilgrims, who had walked all the way from Kyoto, cleansed their bodies and minds was on the beach of Kii-Tanabe (around the current Ogigahama area).
Tanabe, the gateway town to the World Heritage Kumano Kodo, is the crucial point where the coastal route (Kii-ji) branches off into the rugged mountain route (Nakahechi) to Kumano.
In ancient times, before entering the mountains from here, travelers solemnly performed “Shiogori,” a ritual of purifying themselves with seawater, preparing their minds for the journey toward the three Grand Shrines of Kumano.
In the modern era, the spirit of “Shiogori” is being revived as a special ceremony for starting the Kumano Kodo journey: to refresh the mind and body with the sea breeze and renew one’s resolve for the pilgrimage while connecting with history.
From the sea to the mountains. Experience “Shiogori” in the land of Tanabe, embraced by history and nature, and take your first step onto the Kumano Kodo—a path woven by a thousand years of prayer.
