How it works

Book
Enter your accommodations, dates and number of bags online. Deadline: (to be announced)

Tag
Write your name, phone and next accommodation on a SHIOGORI TRANSPORTE tag and tie it firmly to your bag.

Leave
Leave it at the reception desk by (to be announced).

Collect
(to be announced) — your bag will be waiting at your next inn.
STEP BY STEP
Step by step
1. Book
Enter your name, contact details (phone and email), number of bags, and for each transfer day the accommodation you leave from and the one you arrive at. You can book the first stage now and add more later.
2. Tag
Every bag must carry a SHIOGORI TRANSPORTE luggage tag. Tags are available at partner accommodations or can be downloaded and printed. Write your name, phone number, destination accommodation, date and booking number. If you have more than one bag, tag each one.
3. Leave
Leave your bag at the reception desk (or wherever your accommodation asks) before the pick-up time, and let the staff know it is for SHIOGORI TRANSPORTE.
4. Collect
Your bag will be delivered to your next accommodation by the delivery time. Collect it when you check in. If it has not arrived, contact us right away. (to be announced)

PARTNER INNS
Save with partner inns
SHIOGORI TRANSPORTE partner inns agree to hold your bag in the morning and receive it on arrival. Because the handover is simple and reliable, transfers where both inns are partners are charged at the lower partner rate.
You can also use the service with non-partner accommodation, but because handovers need to be checked and arranged individually, the price is higher. The price is shown automatically when you choose your inns in the booking form.

PACKING RULES
Packing your bag
- Pack everything inside the bag. Do not tie umbrellas, shoes or plastic bags to the outside.
- Tag each bag.
- Close all zips; use a small lock if you wish.
- Protect the contents from rain with a pack cover or liner.

- Passport, cash, cards and valuables
- Daily medicine, phone and charger
- Laptops, cameras and other fragile items
- Perishable or refrigerated food
- Dangerous goods (gas canisters, fuel, fireworks)

THE TAG
The SHIOGORI TRANSPORTE luggage tag
The front shows the service name and pick-up time. The back has spaces for your name, phone number, destination accommodation, date and booking number, plus the rules in Japanese and English, so inn staff and drivers can see at a glance where your bag is going.

Frequently asked questions
Which sections do you cover?

Can I use any accommodation?
Yes, partner and non-partner inns alike. If both inns are partners you pay the lower partner rate; otherwise the standard rate applies. For non-partner accommodation, please check in advance that they can hold your bag. We may not be able to deliver to campsites or unstaffed facilities. Please have all your accommodation booked before reserving.
Why is it cheaper with partner inns?
Partner inns agree to hold and receive luggage, so handovers need less checking and arranging. We pass that saving on to you.
Can I book just one day?
How many bags can I send?

Can you carry suitcases?
Yes. Between partner inns a suitcase costs ¥2,500 per stage. Size and weight limit: (to be announced). Storage space at mountain inns can be limited, so we recommend a backpack where possible.
My backpack is over 15 kg. Can I still send it?

How do I change or cancel?

What about rain or typhoons?
We operate in the rain. If roads are closed due to a typhoon or similar, delivery may be delayed or cancelled; we will contact you. (to be announced)
Can you send my bag to Kansai Airport or Osaka?
SHIOGORI TRANSPORTE carries luggage between inns on the Kumano Kodo. For airports or long-distance delivery, use a courier (Yamato TA-Q-BIN, Japan Post Yu-Pack) from convenience stores near Kii-Tanabe Station.
